about me

I’m Pia — a visual artist and designer. After studying Product Design (Diplom) at Hochschule Niederrhein in Krefeld, I’ve spent the past 17+ years running my own textile design studio as an independent creative. Art has always been my parallel world—private, intuitive, and experimental. In recent years, I’ve started to unite both practices, merging design expertise with a freer, emotion-led artistic language. This website is dedicated to my art, photography, and personal creative projects.
My art begins where rational thought dissolves and intuition takes over.
It is a search for emotion through color, for atmosphere through light,
and for a quiet dialogue between inner and outer worlds.
My work emerges from a heightened sensitivity to moods, energies
and subtle shifts in my environment
— impressions that form the emotional foundation of my visual language.

Concept

My artistic process is free, emotional and exploratory. I follow impulses, accidents and moments of curiosity, allowing the work to grow through play and discovery rather than fixed intention.
I perceive emotions and atmospheres quickly and intensely; what once felt overwhelming now guides my creative decisions. Art is not something I choose — it unfolds as a necessity, a way of translating inner resonance into visible form.

Medium & Method

I work with both digital techniques and traditional craftsmanship.
The interplay between opposites — precision and spontaneity, control and intuition
— opens new pathways in each project.
My process often begins with a feeling, a question or a sensory impression.
Through focused immersion, I allow the material, light or color to lead the way.
My practice embraces openness: I experiment, follow unexpected directions and welcome the unknown as part of the work itself.

Color & Emotion

Color is at the core of my artistic language.
I study how hues shift moods, evoke tension, create stillness or spark emotional depth.
In photography, I use color to amplify atmosphere and emotional charge.
In painting and printmaking, I work with contrasts — sharpness and blur, intensity and softness,
light and shadow — to create dynamic, intuitive compositions.
My images often evolve through instinctive decisions, guided by a sense of harmony,
movement and emotional truth.

Philosophy

I want my art to create moments of pause — moments where perception sharpens,
where something resonates, or where viewers encounter a fragment of their own inner landscape.
Art, for me, is a space of transmission:
a bridge between sensation and form,
between artist and observer,
between the visible and the felt.
Every encounter becomes part of the work.

Journey

For many years, I understood myself primarily as a designer.
My background in product design shaped my thinking through structure, clarity and aesthetics.
Yet art was always present — quietly, in photographs, drawings, gestures, colors.
Only in recent years have I allowed this voice to expand.
Today, my practice is an ongoing exploration — a dialogue between emotion,
perception and playful discovery.
I embrace the sensitivity that once challenged me as a source of creative insight and depth.

Photography

Photography is my way of transforming perception into emotion.
My intention is not to document reality, but to capture the feeling beneath the surface — the atmosphere of a moment, the resonance of a place, the vibration of color and light.
Each photograph becomes an echo of an inner state.
In street photography, I seek the rhythm and velocity of everyday life.
In festivals or club environments, I explore collective energy — the freedom, movement and intensity of shared experience.
In nature, I search for stillness and reverence —
moments when vastness invites silence and presence.
